ACT NOW

THEY MUST NOT PUT BUSES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST!

Many believe that the public transit system currently in place
is fragmented, poorly run and grossly inadequate to meet the
needs
of senior citizens, people with disabilities, low income families,
young people and anybody interested in reducing the amount of money
they have to spend on gas in these days of high prices.

ALL OF OUR CITIZENS NEED FULL ACCESS TO THE COMMUNITY

Currently, there are very few options for these individuals past 4 p.m.
during the week, and often none at all on the weekend. We believe that an
appropriate, adequate and affordable public transit system like most other communities of our size would actually be extremely beneficial to everyone – reducing traffic jams, providing better access to fairs and other special events. Some would have us believe that a system such as those that exist in other communities would never work here.

ACT NOW (Accessing Community Transportation in Northwest Indiana)

believes that a county-wide bus system that meets the needs
of ALL of our people COULD work, if we all learn to cooperate
just think creatively.
Since it is essential that these new
decision-makers hear from citizens, and from those who provide
services to the above populations, we strongly encourage you to
speak your mind. For more information about the coalition, write to actnowNWI@yahoo.com.
